AML Council to Hold press conference to Discuss issues with Ovation General Contractor

For Immediate Release: Tuesday , August 14, 2018

Kissimmee, FLThe American Muslim Leadership Council (AML Council), will hold a press conference, with parents, and Community Members affected by the actions of Ovation General Contractor.

On Tuesday, August 14th, at 11 am at the Community Center Located at
4992 W. Irlo Bronson Mem Hwy, Kissimmee, FL 34746

to discuss the unfortunate news of adjourning the opening of “Izzadeen Academy”, the first American Muslim Private Academy in Osceola County, due to the actions of Ovation General Contractor, who took $300,000 (Three Hundred Thousand Dollars), to finish a job by June 15th, 2018, so we can offer the kids a school for the academic year of 2018-2019, however, never came close the completion

Once the announcement of the school opening adjournments came out, many kids dream of attending the Academy was shattered. That left many parents, struggling to find a last minute schooling alternative. Furthermore, teachers and Academy staff were affected financially, as they had to search for a place of employment since the academy opening was adjourned.

On Friday August 10th, due to Ovation negligence, our center had well over $100,000 in damage as a result of sewer line back up.

Aml Council has worked patiently with Ovation, and at this point, we can not stand by silent. The Academy & Aml Council have retained the Office of Michael Pugh for legal representation.

About

Izzadeen Acadamy

The Academy had purchased 10 Mobile Classrooms from Orange County School District in Dec of 2016, to open the First American Muslim Private Academy. The Acadamy since then, has submitted site plans, which was approved by Osceola County in April of 2018. Furthermore, The Academy received its State of Florida Department of Education approval as well.
On (or about) July 11th, 2018, Ovation “Walked Off” the job, after his request for more money was rejected by the board of directors of Aml Council, only to promise to return, after members of the media contacted him. Unfortunately, since then, Ovation Contracting either was a no-show at the job site, or sent ONLY ONE person to work, ignoring requests for an Audit from our board members, failing to provide a new finish date (since the June 15th date was changed several times, and at the moment we do not have a finish date).
The Academy project overall cost has surpassed $500,000 (Half of Million Dollars), which was raised from community members who have sacrificed so much to see this dream come true, for example, we had a family who sold their house to donate funds to pay the contractor, others have sold personal property to donate, even little kids who gave up their piggy banks to donate to pay the contractor. The site plans for the Academy has a soccer field, and a playground, which many kids were looking forward to since this facilities were going to be open to the public after school hours, and children who live in the motels on 192 would have benefited as well.

Therefore, this has been a long journey, and only to have the dreams of the students and their families shattered by the actions of Ovation Contracting(Ovation Owner Albert Flores 407-616-4582

We are hoping with the help of the Media, once the story is aired, that we can find a General Contractor who is willing to help to finish this project. Upon hearing this, our local Home Depot has already offered a discounted pricing on material in an effort to help with the cost, knowing the community does not have a lot of money left, after paying Ovation $300,000.
Also, to warn others to be cautious when dealing with General contractors.
