Today, At least 49 people were killed and 20 seriously injured in mass shootings at two mosques in the New Zealand city of Christchurch Friday, in a carefully planned and unprecedented attack that has shocked the usually peaceful nation.
The American Muslim Leadership Council (AML Council) Condemn the barbaric act today in New Zeeland that Killed 48 and wounded 20 people.
AML Council sends its condolences to the families of the victims and prays for the speedy recovery of the injured.

The American Muslim Leadership Council (Aml Council ) is shocked by this act of senseless violence. This heinous act of terrorism is another painful reminder that the challenge of mass shootings and active shootings crimes are universal and pause a rising and continued challenge facing the world and no society and no nation can be immune of terror, hate and violence. Media reports so far indicate that the terrorist was motivated by any Muslim anti-immigrant hate.

Purveyors of hateful rhetoric create an environment conducive to these acts of hate. This is a political crime with a political message of hate and exclusion.

We urge that Muslims, Islam and immigrants be discussed with the dignity afforded to humanity. Dehumanization and demonization leads to terrorism.

Aml  Council calls upon all the Muslim places of worship to be extremely cautious. We are concerned over possibly copycat attacks. Aml Council asks the public to be “vigilant and report any suspicious behavior” added Imam Helmi The Executive Director of Aml Council.

We are calling for law enforcement presence as we have seen an increasing attack on places of worship recently. Furthermore, I pray and hope this is a wake-up call, for all Americans to come together and send a strong message of Unity, and to let those who are filled with HATE that they do not have a place among us.

We received a call from the FBI Local office assuring us of more law enforcement presence.

“It is clear that the terrorist have NO Boundaries in taking the innocent life, to go in the House of God and conduct such SICK, BARBARIC ACT,” said Imam Helmi Abufarah El Agha, the AML Center Imam, and Executive Director.

All acts of violence on the innocent are condemned, especially those that occur at houses of worship. A house of worship is a place where people expect to be safe to worship. While prayers and thoughts sent to the victims and survivors are kind and expected, this massacre serves as another reminder that the 200 million dollar Islamophobia machine based in the US inspires killers at home and aboard as well.
AML Council expresses its heartfelt condolences to the victim’s families and wishes all the injured a speedy recovery.

AML Council has started a Go Fund Me Account to assist the families and the victims of the attack. Furthermore, this is a reminder, that we must all come together to work for a better safer tomorrow. We would like to see more Police presence around the places of worship, as it is important to send a message to everyone that such actions will not be tolerated.
